Job: Project Assistant (m/f/d) with Doctorate / PhD

The Center for Interdisciplinary Aging and Care Research (CIRAC) at the University of Graz is hiring a Project Assistant (m/f/d) with Doctorate / PhD,  20 hours / week, starting May 1, 2025, initially limited until March 31, 2026 (extension possible). Salary per year (full time): €69.060, 59.

We are looking for a dedicated and qualified individual to collaborate on the interdisciplinary and international research project “Transforming Anxieties of Ageing in Southeastern Europe: Political, Social, and Cultural Narratives of Demographic Change”, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Participation in the project “Transforming Anxieties of Ageing in Southeastern Europe”
  • Development of qualitative research instruments, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Independent research and publication activities within the project framework
  • Contribution to scientific project reports, events, and publications

Your Profile

  • Completed domestic or equivalent foreign higher education (Doctorate or PhD), ideally
    with a focus on Southeastern Europe
  • Excellent knowledge of critical aging and care research, as well as a strong understanding of relevant theoretical and methodological approaches
  • Extensive experience in qualitative research, particularly in data collection and analysis
    methods (e.g., conducting and analyzing interviews)
  • Knowledge of software-supported data analysis (e.g., MAXQDA)
  • Experience with transdisciplinary and participatory research processes
  • Language skills: Excellent written and spoken German, English, and Romanian. Knowledge of Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian is an advantage
  • An appropriate number of relevant academic publications according to academic career
    stage
  • Experience in international as well as inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration
  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • High personal motivation and scholarly curiosity
  • Initiative and commitment
